Get Help Selecting Tubing

Swagelok supplies or sources, based on specific material properties, the following tubing options to meet a variety of application needs.

Stainless Steel Tubing

Instrumentation-grade seamless stainless-steel tubing is available in fractional, metric, and imperial sizes. It is chemically cleaned and passivated to ASTM G93 Level A and CGA 4.1 standards and thermocouple-cleaned per ASTM A632-S3. Additionally, welded stainless steel tubing in fractional sizes can be used with Swagelok components.

Ultrahigh-Purity (UHP) and High-Purity Stainless Steel Tubing

Made from 316L stainless steel, this tubing undergoes rigorous chemical cleaning and passivation processes, as well as thermocouple cleaning, to achieve ultrahigh purity. Available in sizes ranging from 1/8 to 2 in and 6 to 18 mm, it is ideal for applications requiring exceptional cleanliness and corrosion resistance. Additionally, the tube ends are prepared for orbital welding, facilitating easy and reliable installation.

Cone and Thread Tubing—IPT Series

Made from 316 stainless steel for durability and reliability, this tubing is designed for medium to high-pressure applications. It can handle pressures up to 20 000 psig (1378 bar) and high-pressure ratings of up to 60 000 psig (4134 bar).

Medium-Pressure Tubing—FK Series

Manufactured from 316 or 316L stainless steel, this tubing is offered in both 1/8-hard and heavy annealed varieties. Available in lengths of up to 20 ft. and metric lengths up to 6 m, it is designed for compatibility with Swagelok medium-pressure fittings. The cold-drawn 1/8-hard tubing provides increased material strength, enabling a reduced wall thickness and improved flow capacity. Each tube is distinctly marked with the size, material, condition, and heat number for easy identification.

Jacketed Tubing and Insulated Tubing

Swagelok® jacketed tubing helps provide increased protection against galvanic and atmospheric corrosion. Swagelok insulated tubing is designed for use in applications such as steam supply, condensate return, and gas and liquid transport lines, where weatherproofing and energy conservation are important. Swagelok insulated tubing offers a cost-effective alternative to field-installed insulation of small-diameter tubing systems.

Jacketed Tubing Specifications

Materials316 or 316L stainless steel or copper with PVC jacket
Sizes1/4 to 1/2 in.; 6 to 12 mm
Pressure RatingsFractional Tubing: Up to 5100 psig (351 bar)
Metric Tubing: Up to 420 bar (6095 psig)
Maximum Process Temperature: 220°F (104°C)

Insulated Tubing Specifications

Materials316 or 316L stainless steel or copper with fibrous glass insulation and PVC jacket
Sizes1/4 to 1/2 in.; 6 to 12 mm
Pressure RatingsFractional Tubing: Up to 4896 psig (337 bar)
Metric Tubing: Up to 403 bar (5849 psig)

Jacketed, Pre-Insulated Tubing Bundles—Electric-Traced and Steam-Traced

Swagelok pre-insulated traced tubing bundles provide reliable process temperature maintenance in a variety of analytical and process instrumentation applications, including impulse lines, sample lines, and process lines. The parallel configuration—process and tracer lines are parallel inside the bundle—allows all tubes to bend together in as little as an 8 in. (20.3 cm) radius in tubing sizes up to 3/4 in. or 12 mm, so the bundle is easier to route and connect in the field than cabled bundles.

Specifications

Materials316 or 316L stainless steel, copper, or PFA with PVC or urethane jacket
Sizes1/4 to 3/4 in.; 6 to 12 mm
Pressure RatingsFractional Tubing: Up to 10 900 psig (751 bar)
Metric Tubing: Up to 420 bar (6095 psig)
Maximum Process Temperature: 220°F (104°C)

Electric-Traced Tubing

Swagelok electric-traced bundled tubing maintains consistent temperatures in long, continuous lengths of impulse and sample lines for freeze protection, temperature maintenance up to 250°F (121°C), or viscosity control.

Steam-Traced Tubing

Swagelok light steam-traced bundled tubing is typically used for freeze protection of instrument impulse lines and analyzer transport lines, maintaining temperatures in smaller diameter process lines from 50 to 200°F (10 to 93°C). Swagelok heavy steam-traced bundled tubing is typically used to maintain higher process temperature from 200 to 400°F (93 to 204°C) or for viscosity control. Applications can include impulse, sampling, and process lines.
