Snubber Fittings (Gauge Protectors)
The response rate of an instrument to system changes is reduced when a Swagelok snubber fitting is installed upstream from a pressure-sensitive instrument, protecting it from potential damage. Pressure damping (snubbing) is accomplished through the use of a porous sintered 316 stainless steel element. The response rate then generally varies with the initial pressure drop across the element, allowing the instrument to smoothly come to line pressure.
